Objective - As a leading construction company in the Czech Republic, Metrostav wanted to establish an approach to calculating the carbon footprint of its projects and buildings. It needed to standardize its methodology, streamline the collection of ESG data from extensive internal processes, and create a basis for automated reporting in line with European regulations and investor expectations.

How we helped

  • Methodology setup: The Greenometer team prepared a comprehensive framework for correctly calculating carbon footprint in accordance with the GHG Protocol, CSRD, and construction specifics.

  • Data collection in the platform: our application enabled the rapid collection and validation of data from individual divisions and projects – from energy consumption to material inputs.

  • Carbon footprint calculations for buildings: we performed detailed calculations for various types of buildings, including a breakdown into Scope 1, 2, and 3, and provided transparent methodological documentation for future use.

  • Automated reporting: we set up reporting templates directly in the platform that can generate outputs for management and external stakeholders (including investors and auditors).

Outcomes – Metrostav now has a uniform and auditable methodology for the carbon footprint of buildings, which is embedded in a digital system. The process of data collection and report preparation is automated and flexible, which significantly reduces the time and administrative burden. The company has thus gained a tool that allows it to better manage its environmental impact while being prepared for the new CSRD/ESRS requirements.
